It was a pretty early check in (5:30 am) at our resort- Club Palolem. Special mention to the kind staff at Club Palolem for not only letting the 4 of us check in early but also for permitting us to accommodate a friend of ours who had joined us on the way.
Everyone knows about the magical evenings that Goa offers but only few experience the blissful morning walk. We set out to explore the beach early morning. The tranquility all around complemented by the sound of gentle waves caressing the Palolem sand was indeed soothing. I could already feel the stress accumulated over the past few months melting away!
As we walked through the beach, couldn't help but stop by a vada pav seller and had a quite spicy yet disappointing breakfast and tea. The mandatory thing about travelling in India is having to deal with stray cows and dogs. Since the vada pav was a shocker, the animals circling around the vada pav vendor got their breakfast.
The trip had started well in terms of weather and mood, however the woes regarding food were to continue. We were lured into the worst shack on the beach and had to eat some bad food. We later discovered in the afternoon that the shack right next to it was a huge success with regards to the culinary experience. I highly recommend any potential visitors to check the ratings in Google before entering any shack.
There were a few water sport activities like speed boat, kayak, visit to monkey Island nearby etc, but it's wasn't ideal for our mood then - we found the packages expensive and afterall our expectation was a laid back and relaxed vacation. But adventure enthusiasts can probably check the short boat trips from Palolem for sure.
The evening was surreal, the magical Palolem sunset is best enjoyed with friends, gentle music, chilled beer, and some spicy sea food. Watching people soak up the sun and the sand after months of misery thanks to the pandemic was a joyful experience.
That's pretty much about Palolem- this place is for the folks who want a complete relaxation after a stressful week. The options for partying are limited here. I suggest you go to North Goa if you prefer bustling nightlife.

After a sumptuous goan breakfast with coffee, we headed straight back to Madgaon and hired a cab to Colva. I had a very nice experience last time in Colva with my wife at the Kentucky restaurant and I recommended we go there. Kentucky was the same which I saw 2 years back and it certainly did not disappoint this time around.
The goan lunch with King fish curry, fried prawns and cheesy calamari was one of the best lunches I ever had in my life. I highly recommend Kentucky restaurant if you are at the Colva beach as it's a perfect place to relax and enjoy sea food. There are not many other shacks at Colva though and the beach is not as happening as some of the other beaches in Goa.
All in all, Palolem in my opinion is a great beach to hang out if you value peace more than party. Thank God we have Goa.
