One of the iconic landmarks of Washington D.C., the Washington Monument is all set to welcome back visitors from 9.00 am tomorrow, announced the National Mall and Memorial Parks branch of the National Park Service. The stunning 555-foot stone obelisk will be open to the public from 9 am to 5 pm all week, starting July 14.

According to the statement released on the official website of the National Park Service, visitors must purchase the entry tickets in advance on recreation.gov as they wouldn't be sold on-site. Tickets listed as 'not yet released' will become available for booking a day before the tour date. Additionally, NPS also mandates the use of masks for all visitors above 2 years, regardless of their vaccination status.

As America witnessed quite a good improvement in the COVID-19 situation over the last few months, many tourist attractions across the country are reopening and things seem to be falling back into place (finally).

The Washington Monument, which was first closed in March 2020 due to the outbreak of the pandemic, reopened for a brief period in October before the NPS shut it down again in January over security concerns. Now after a gap of six months, the towering monument that dominates the DC's skyline is ready to receive tourists.

About Washington Monument:

Situated within the National Mall, the Washington Monument is built in honor of George Washington - the first President of the United States and one of America's greatest leaders. Standing tall at 555 feet, it was the world's tallest building when constructed in 1884. At present, the Washington Monument is still the tallest stone structure and the tallest obelisk in the world. The gigantic monument that towers over Washington DC evinces Americans' admiration for their dearest leader.

The observation deck at the top of the monument offers sweeping views of the surroundings, including other popular landmarks of the city like the U.S. Capitol, the White House, and the Washington National Cathedral among others. A minute-long ride to the observation deck in a state-of-the-art elevator is another highlight of a tour of the Washington Monument.
