Day 1

Whenever we talk of Agra, the first thing that comes to your mind is THE TAJ MAHAL. The famous ivory-white marble mausoleum was built on the banks of Yamuna river in 1600AD by the then emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal.

The beauty of Taj Mahal lies in its uniqueness where a detailed planning executed to perfection made it the WONDER OF THE WORLD. The Taj Mahal that houses the cenotaph of Mumtaz Mahal (and later Shah Jahan also) was made in a way such that the beautiful monument can be seen by the Emperor from the window of his room. The holy verses of Quaran Sharif have been inscribed on the walls in Arabic Script in such an amazing way that it appears that the letters get bigger as we approach upwards, creating a beautiful paradox, yet they are of same size.  The four pillars have been erected in such a way to be tilted outwards ( due to wide angle shot they appear tilted inwards in the pic) so that the tomb can be protected from getting damaged in case of an earthquake or any other natural calamity.

➡️The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays as prayers are offered by Muslims in the Mosque inside the Complex. So, if you are planning a visit to the Taj, make sure its not FRIDAY.

There is a Mosque inside Taj Mahal which is located on the West Side of the building, and towards Mecca (as the prayers are offered in the direction of Mecca). The building has been constructed using Red Stand stones and has three identical tombs with the central main one larger in size. There are no lights inside and the sunrays falling from behind the Taj Mahal and  lit up the Mosque in a magical way and the cool breeze flowing through the open entrances makes the aura calm and peaceful, where the silence lets you hear the voice of your soul and enables you to connect to the Supreme and pray from the heart.

The Taj Mahal does not derive its beauty  from the mausoleum alone but also from the gardens and fountains that become the walkway to the Cenotaph.

It is believed that Paradise consists of four gardens and a river. The Yamuna became that river and the four gardens were planned to make Taj Mahal, a palace in paradise.

The four gardens, designed in Persian style and laid in square shape, separated by fountains and walkways, starts from the main gateway and ends near the mausoleum. It is said that the gardens have been planned with two types of trees where the fruit bearing trees have been used to signify LIFE and Noble Cyprus trees have been used to signify DEATH.

MEHTAB BAGH, a complex that lies on the North side of Taj Mahal, provides you a beautiful view of the mausoleum through the lush green trees and fountains.

Though the garden was made much before the Taj but wnet into despair. It was then rebuilt as a part of the process to save the Taj from getting damaged due to abrasion of sand.

Also known as the moonlit pleasure garden, it provides a beautiful view of Taj when it is shines in the light of moon. The calm atmosphere created by the freshness of the dense trees and the blowing breeze of purity, brings out the emotions of love and care which are otherwise suppressed in the worldly rush of routines. The chirping birds adds music to your earsand you feel as if you are in an  open air theatre, enjoying the moments of togetherness by admiring the most beautiful creation of LOVE.

Must visit this beautiful place once.
