In the month of  February we are a group of  10 friends decided to go for an offbeat fort. After a long discussion we zeroed down to sindola fort.
No-one from our group went there before & after research we came to know that very few people visit this fort just because it's not famous !! We all  like to explore offbeat treks always, so we selected sindola fort for our next excursion. On our trekking day only 10 of us were there on the fort & there was no surprise in it . From Mumbai we hired a vehicle. The nearest station is Kalyan junction. Permission is not required to visit the fort. Carry 2-3 water & food with you.
Sindola fort is one of the many lesser known forts in Maharashtra. This fort is located in the Junnar region at an altitude of 3680 ft.
Sindola fort was a watchtower because from the fort you'll get an entire view of malshej ghat, pargaon village & other popular forts. If you love to explore offbeat forts / treks then sindola is a very good option. One needs an experience of a few treks  before going to sindola as walking on the ridge is not easy & before going to the top there is a very narrow pathway, only 1 person can cross it at a time.
The base village is karanjale. It starts from the highway itself. You've to check for the Karanjale Village board. Sindola fort trek starts from the field opposite that board. After beginning you'll walk on a plain land for approx 20 minutes, after this you'll see a plateau. From there another 15 minutes of gradual ascend, you are at the starting point of the ridge. The moment you reach the ridge you'll see a view of  Malshej ghat, pimpalgaon joga dam. Click some pictures of this amazing view.
On your left you'll see a series of famous peaks like Devdandya, Bhojgiri. The next trail is narrow & only 1 person can cross it at a time like I've mentioned earlier.
The 2nd ridge is shorter than the previous one. From this ridge itself you can see the view of  sindola fort. You've to take a left traverse to reach the top. Please wear proper trekking shoes. The last part of the trek is to climb the pinnacle of the fort.  For this you've to climb rock cut steps which will lead you to the fort. Approx 2 hours are enough for climbing the fort. You can descend from the same route as you came up. The
best season is June. If you want to see clearer views of other mountains and forts then November till February is best.
