Penang is an island located on the northwestern coast of Peninsular Malaysia famous for its street art. You will be amazed to find beautiful murals on most of the walls throughout this city. A few of them also have certain physical things incorporated with these paintings to give a real feel to these. I would recommend that you rent out a bicycle and pedal through these streets and spend some time viewing these and taking lots of cool pictures with them. Now, first things first.
How to reach Penang from KL?
We booked a bus from KL Sentral to Penang (Sungai Nibong Bus Terminal) the previous night. The entire journey takes about 5hrs; we left KL at 9.30am and reached Penang around 2.30pm. Again booked a taxi to reach our accommodation (Penang stay – Zahaar hotel). Took a little time to freshen up and immediately left for Georgetown.
Georgetown is the most happening place in Penang. As for transportation, there are public buses in Penang which are supposed to ply every 15 minutes but due to some reason, we waited for half an hour but there was no bus. So we just booked a taxi and left. First, we decided to head towards the Penang 3D Art Museum. Entry ticket for Non-Malaysian citizens costs around 15MYR. I felt it was worth the money, as the paintings were unique and we had a fun time acting and posing for all of them :P. My favourite was the slant looking room. We spent around 1.5hrs here clicking many many pics.
Later decided to just explore the place around and found another “Little India” here in Penang! It is very similar to the one in KL. Since most of the tourist places get closed around 6 pm in the evening, we had nothing to do but explore the surroundings on our own. Since we couldn’t cover more places today, we had to rush the places in Penang the next day and also leave for Langkawi island on a ferry.
