Udaipur falls on the ‘Golden Quadrilateral’ so it is well connected to the country by road. I visited Udaipur last year, and I had a beautiful experience of the city of lakes. I never felt like leaving this city as it has so splendid and mesmerizing places to visit. If you live in India or might plan to visit India one must look forward to visit Udaipur. The city has a rich hinder-land consisting of natural flora and fauna. There are lot of palaces and lakes to visit and the best part is the camel ride. Talking about the history of Udaipur, one must know a little about it and who ruled it it. Udaipur was the capital of the Rajput kingdom of Mewar, ruled by Ranawats of Sisodia clan. The founder of Udaipur was Rana Udai Singh. And the ancient capital of Mewar was Chittorgarh. The main attraction of Udaipur is City Palace and Kumbhalgarh, well according to me it is. These two places i liked the most. Lake Pichola is also a beautiful lake where you can get a heart warming view of sunset. I am an art and architecture lover and the forts and palaces didn't let me down, the Kumbhalgarh fort is so beautifully built and the stone structure is just amazing.

For shopping some good places are Hati pol, Bada bazaar and Chetak circle. If you want to buy some interesting things that are special in Udaipur then the main attraction is, their traditional dress that is the "Ghagra choli", kurtas, dupattas, also earrings, hukka stand, wall hangings, cloth lanterns, pottery. Also brassware and other sculptures are also popular. Lastly, Must eat places in Udaipur are Ambrai restaurant, it is one of the popular restaurant in Udaipur, It is situated on the banks of Lake Pichola. The prices are affordable and you must try its traditional Rajasthani meat curry. If you love samosa and kachories you should try it in Lala ki kachories shop. If you are really fond of Rajasthani dish then you can try dal-bhati chorma. These are the places I could suggest to eat and shop. If you're planning to pay a visit hope you enjoy as I did.
Lake Pichola is situated in Udaipur, Rajasthan it is an artificial freshwater lake. It was built by "banjara" (gypsy) in 1362 AD. It is the most picturesque lake of Udaipur. The lake is surrounded by a beautiful City palace. offers a heavenly view to the onlooker. There's a beautiful lake palace of white marbles built in between the lake Pichola. Lake Palace was constructed by Maharana Jai Singh II in 1746. Originally, the Lake palace was known as Jag Niwas later it came to be known as Lake Palace. The wonderful architecture of the Lake Palace will send shivers down your spine. Its built with white marbles. It has a series of courtyards, terraces, beautiful fountains as well as gardens. In last few years this palace has been turned into a hotel.
City Palace is one of the most captivating palace across the Udaipur city, it is situated on the banks of Pichola lake. The construction of this palace was initiated by Maharana Uday Singh. The entry to the palace is from the Hati Pol, the Elephant gate. The Bari Pol or the big gate brings one to the Tripolia, the Triple gate. The main part of the palace is now preserved as a museum displaying a large and diverse artifacts. The rooms of the palace are superbly decorated with mirrors, tiles and paintings. the City Palace also houses a crystal gallery, which boasts of royal artifacts and the world’s largest private collection of crystal. The museum comprises the Mardana Mahal (palace for the royal men) and The Zenana Mahal (palace for the royal ladies) and it leads to Lakshmi chowk a beautiful white pavilion. This place also shows the sound and light show in the evening narrating the story of Mewar Kings.
Kumbhalgarh fort is a Mewar fortress, it is the world heritage site. It is the second most important fort of the Mewar rulers of Rajasthan after Chittorgarh. This fort is encircled by thirteen elevated mountain peeks. It is 1, 914 meters above the sea level. The fortification of this fort extends up-to 32-36 kilometers. As you walk up the zig zag path of the fort you will come across the Arait Pol, where you can trace the watch-tower and then Hulla Pol, Hanuman Pol, Ram Pol, Bhairava Pol, Paghra Pol, Top-khana Pol and Nimboo Pol. This place is also famous as it is the birth place of Maharana Pratap. The foundation of the fort is very strong structured, You will come across many temples built inside the fort. This place gives will you the most dazzling view of the clouds.
Saheliyon ki badi (Courtyard of the maidens). King Sangram Singh had built this enthralling garden in 1710. This garden was laid out for their leisure time. King Sangram and Princess Shankuntala came here to spend there weekends. It has 48 women attendants who came as part of a princess’s dowry and has beautiful, well-maintained fountains, kiosks, marble elephants and a delightful lotus pool. Saheliyon Ki Badi is one of the most beautiful gardens and a major tourist destination in Udaipur. It is the garden of maids.
