Pandavkholi is one hidden not much explored pristine place in the wild silence of Ranikhet.
The place birthed with the name as Pandavas from Indian mythology stayed in this meadows and saved attack from Kauravas.
It's 27 kms away from Dwarahat ( famous Town in Uttarakhand having 350 steps and part of Dronanchal mountains) and there is world famous temple Doonagiri which too falls on the same route.
The meadows is around 4 km solid trek through jungle . You will find one shop in the start where you can get refreshments like tea water and can enjoy the heart ❤ full view of large agriculture lands.Leopards and other wild animals are cited frequently so plan in groups or cover the distance when during daytime. Commonly known as Bheem ki Shaiyya due to one of the tale foretelling Bheem rested over this place.
Temple premises host meditation halls and living rooms and can be taken for rent by booking it through temple staff.
Since it's situated in the middle of jungle food and all can be taken along and temple staff can cook it for you charging even fees.
The premise hosts a cluster of rock statues 5 in number ( depicting pandavas). The staff serves free green tea which is quite relaxing and soothing to the taste buds. Since woods are the only source of fuel as in cooking and also due to the snowfall in winters , you will find plethora broken woods kept as a supply inside the huts 🛖 which in itself gives different look and feel all together. As a gesture you can work along with the staff and help them in preparing Prasad for daily chores. Also in order to support organic agriculture temple holds a shop where organic products ranging from tea to facewash along with products keeping digestive tracts fit are present.
100 m from premises there is a shiv temple standing atop and couple of chambers with five statues claiming the points known for meditation 🧘♀️ by pandavas. This is one of the highlights , on very few occasions you seems to witness such a morning sun rise or evening sunset 🌇 with stream of clouds flowing like a river ,both very beautiful. Tourists are known to practise meditation 🧘♀️ with ample concentration and for hours as the whole natural setup is very peaceful and soothing. Yup and trekkers after taking active permissions can park their tents in the meadow can enjoy the fair starry night.
Further ahead the trek can be extended to
1:- Bharatkot ( place where Bharat did meditation )
2 :- Peanath ( Shiva Linga)
If continued the same route will take you to kausani through lush green forest and villages.
In order to conduct these treks trekkers should have all amenities like fooding etc along with them. Halt can be taken at Pandavkholi first and then trek for Bharatkot can be started .From there one more night halt ,depends again on the trekkers choice and strength @ Bhararkot and trek further can be continued.
