Day 1

1)Take Out Flexible Travel Insurance (THAT COVERS COVID!)
If, like us, you spend a lot of time traveling, it's important to use a provider that covers a wide range of activities as well as being flexible in which countries that covers, and for which months.
SafetyWing are awesome in this sense, offering flexible monthly policies that can be turned off and on at any time, great when you may not be traveling for a month or two.

2)Get Yourself A Set Of Wheels
After 6+ years on the road, we realised one big thing ... having your own transport when traveling makes things 10x better! No matter where we visit, we always try to rent our own car to get around. You have so much more flexibility and can really get the most out of your trip.

3)Book Refundable Hotel Rooms In Advance
Our number one choice for booking accommodation is Booking.com They have by far the largest range of accommodation all around the world, as well as the best prices. But most of all, the majority of their properties offer free cancellation. Meaning, you can book your ideal accommodation months (or weeks) in advance. And if worst comes to the worst and you have to cancel or delay your trip (ahem...Covid) then you don't miss out on any money.

4)Invest In Some Decent Photography Gear
To be 100% honest, for the majority of travelers, modern smartphone cameras offer more than enough in the way of top quality cameras. But if you're traveling longer term, and want to really capture the most form your visits around the world, then a proper DSLR and lens combo is more than worth picking up. I would currently recommend either the Sony a7iii or Canon PowerShot G7X mark ii.

5)Pick Up A Quality Backpack (Or Suitcase)
A quality backpack will serve you well for years to come. We have used our original Osprey backpacks for more than 5 years and they still hold up amazingly well. We recently came across two awesome luggage brands, Solgaard and Tropicfeel. Click the buttons below to read our in-depth reviews of their backpacks.

6)Pre-Book Activities And Tours
9 times out of 10, it's actually cheaper to book tours and entrances ahead of time. the two top sites for doing this are GetYourGuide and Viator. Simply search for your chosen destination in each tool and discover top places to visit, and then book your entrances/tours ahead of time. As well as money, this saves time spent queuing to buy tickets at the attraction. Or worst still, tickets being sold out!

7)Wake Up Early To Avoid Crowds
Rise before sunrise to have the best attractions all to yourself while avoiding large tourist crowds. It’s also a magical time for photos due to soft diffused light, and it’s usually easier to interact with locals getting ready for their day.
