DAY 1

Day 1

1. INDIA GATE

Start your day by capturing the beauty of India Gate during the blue hour. The mornings at India gate provide you with a mesmerizing view where the freshness of air blends with the purity of bluish/golden sky tones thereby rejuvenating your soul. A walk/ride in this aura with a healthy frame of mind nourishes your body and soul and prepares you for the challenges of daily life.

This is the best time to visit INDIA GATE as it is less crowded at this time.

2. AGRASEN KI BAOLI

After spending approx. 2 hours at India gate proceed toAgrasen ki Baoli (opens at 9AM).

Before entering the place, have a light breakfast at the Nukkad (corner shop ) near the venue that serves tasty Maggi with tea.

Agrasen ki Baoli is a ancient monument in Delhi that got famous after shoot of Bollywood actor Aamir Khan there. It is said that fearing draughts, the people used to store water and food in these specially designed storage places/ step wells named as Baoli. This 3 storied Boali has 108 steps. The architecture of this stepwell resembles to ancient stepwells in Rajasthan and Gujarat.

Spend time here till 11:30Am or 12:00 noon exploring the place and wall paintings done in the near vicinity of the place and then proceed for next place.

Visiting this place before noon is good as its get really hot after wards being open area and direct sunlight falling on you makes you sweat.

3. Humayun's Tomb

From Agersen ki Baoli proceed to Humayun's Tomb. Have some lunch before entering the place as its a huge complex and no food stalls are there inside the complex.

Built on the banks of Yamuna river, by Humayun's first wife Haji Begum, this tomb of Red sandstone, contains the grave of Emperor Humayun. The large complex also houses graves of Empress Haji Begum and Hamida Begum. Also, it houses the grave of Dara Shieh who was the son of Emperor Shah Jahan and great great grandson of Humayun. There are graves of other subsequent Mughals also. Being the first garden tomb it amazes you with its beauty. The architectural double dome masterpiece with double storied gateways and eight double storied chambers leaves you spell bound with its details.

The sunrays shimmering from the windows of the monument caste beautiful shadows with amazing patterns is a treat to watch. Spend time here till evening as the complex is vast and you will not het bored exploring this architectural beauty.

This place looks the best in evening when it is lit by the special lights installed by the Govt.. Safdarjung tomb is the last tomb of the Mughal empire that was designed as monumental tomb garden which consists of four gardens and a river ( fountains) and form the basis to be termed as Paradise. The tomb of Safdarjung is known for the Arabic inscription on it that reads as " WHEN THE HERO OF PLAIN BRAVERY DEPARTS FROM THE TRANSITORY, MAY HE BECOME A RESIDENT OF GOD'S PARADISE"

Day 2

5. JAMA MASJID

Start your Day by visiting the famous OLD DELHI also called DELHI-6. The famous markets of Old Delhi on the early mornings with locals working is a feat for street photographers. Capturing memories on the roads proceed to Jama Masjid. Built by Shah Jahan, it is the second largest mosque in India. Built with red stones and white marbles, it has three gates and two minarets. The three gates are in three directions , north, south and east with the mosque in the western direction. The eastern gate was known as the Royal gate, used by the Emperor and the other two gates were for the public.

It was originally called 'Masjid e Jahan Numa', meaning 'mosque commanding the view of the world'. The words Jama Masjid have been taken from Arabic script meaning Friday Mosque.

6. CONNAUGHT PLACE AND PLAIKA BAZAAR

Head for a brunch at Connaught Place, popular as CP and famous for underground market Palika Bazaar. The main commercial area of the new city, New Delhi, occupies a place of pride in the city and are counted among the top heritage structures in New Delhi. It has all the major brand showrooms here for you to shop and multicuisine restaurants to satisfy your hunger. the Underground Palika Bazaar has more than 375 shops selling a diverse range of items mainly electronics and clothing. First copies/replicas of major brand items can be had from here. SO SHOP WISELY.

7. LOTUS TEMPLE (CLOSED ON MONDAYS)

After satisfying your hunger, proceed for LOTUS TEMPLE, the Bahai House of Worship, famous for its peace and calmness. Known for its lotus flower shape, it is composed of 27 free-standing marble-clad "petals" arranged in clusters of three to form nine sides, with nine doors opening onto a central hall. A must visit place to refresh your mind and soul through meditation in the calmness of this beautiful place.

8. QUTUB MINAR

From Lotus temple, head to Qutub Complex to explore the beauty of Qutub Minar, a World Heritage site having a minaret that is 72.5m high, and is the tallest minaret in the World that is made of bricks. The Qutub Minar glows to its beauty in the evening with specially placed lights. Located near the Airport, the airplanes flying above the Qutub Minar, amaze you with these stunning moments. The Qutub complex is not just known for having the tallest brick minar in the world but it also houses ASHOKA PILLAR, also called the Iron pillar of Delhi. Weighing over three tonnes, this 7 metre high pillar is known for its rust free composition. A special crystalline layer made on the surface of pillar protected it from rust in all weather conditions.
