Sri Guru Ram Rai ji was the eldest son of the seventh Guru of the Sikhs Sri Har Rai Ji and supposedly was his heir. But as Guru Ram Rai Ji mis-quoted the Gurbani in Emperor Aurangzeb's court, he was excommunicated by his own father Guru Har Rai Ji.
