Ajanta caves is UNESCO World Heritage site located at 110 kms distance from Aurangabad, near Ajanta village has Buddhist rock cut caves and monasteries which is cherished for their wall paintings. It is one of the finest examples of ancient Indian art and Sculpture.
Group of 30 caves were excavated from 2nd and 1st centuries BC that includes worship halls and monasteries depicting life, death and rebirth of Shakyamuni Gautam Buddha. These caves are carved into 75m long rock giving it a panaroma view.

Ellora is a UNESCO World Heritage site located in the Aurangabad district of Maharashtra, India. it is one of the oldest Hindu temple single rock carved, multi storyed Complex in the world, featuring Hinduism in particular and few Buddhist and Jain monuments with Artwork from the 600-1000CE period.
Cave 16 features the largest single monolithic rock excavation in the world, Kailash temple, a chariot shaped monument dedicated to Lord Shiva.
One of the most unimaginable and mysterious facts of Kailasa temple is that it's carvings is done from top to bottom, which is impossible even to today to do elaborately using just chisels and hammers. This temple also features sculptures depicting the Gods, Goddesses found in Hinduism as well as relief panels summarising the two major Hindu Epics, the Ramayana and the Mahabharata.

Best way to reach Ajanta and Ellora is Jalgaon( via train) or Aurangabad ( via train or airways)
From their can hire a taxi or bus or private car as per the convenience.

Around 3 hours is required to both the destination to understand the history and culture. Highly suggested to take tour guide in order to understand the beauty and insights of both the place, without which it is irrelevant to visit such ancient historic place.
