Every year on Independence Day and Republic day, flower shows are organized at the Lalbagh Botanical Garden. The 2017 Republic Day edition of Lalbagh flower show was the 204th flower show! remarkable. Over 500,000 visitors came to see the show. The line for Glass house flower palace was long, very very long. It took around an hour to reach the center.
Along with flower show there were many farmers who displayed rare and unique farm produce to demonstrate the emerging horticulture technologies. It is a 10 day fest organized twice every year.
It is more crowded on weekends and on Independence Day or Republic day, to avoid that plan a visit on weekday. You can buy tickets online to avoid long ticket queue. Apart from flower show this 240 acres garden at the heart of city is beautiful. The garden has over 1,000 species of flora. The garden also has trees that are over 100 years old. A geological monument for the peninsular gneiss formation is also a tourist attraction at the gardens.

Entry fees
Entry is free from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. At other times, a fee of Rs.20/- is charged.
During flower show the entry fee is priced at Rs. 60 on holidays for adults. On all other days the entry fee is Rs 50 for adults.
