Arizona, also know as the Grand Canyon State, is a unique place in the southwestern United States; the weather in the southern parts of Arizona is so warm, that you can wear shorts all year round, yet the northern part of the state can be covered in deep snow in the winter.
Arizona has many, many diverse areas that have different environmental landscapes. The northern part of Arizona, around the Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon, gets more rain, and is much cooler than the southern region of the state. Summer boondocking in the Coconino National forest is a popular destination after the winter snowbird destination of Quartzsite. On the west and southern sides of the state, are the lower deserts and the Colorado river, where it is very warm in the winter. Yuma, Lake Havasu City, Quartzsite and Parker all are hotter than Phoenix and Tucson, which are located in the upper desert. But be warned, these areas are HOT in the summer, and not a place to boondock in the summer!
This diverse climate and landscape also brings with it diverse activities. There are several ski resorts in Northern Arizona, while there are superb deserts in the lower desert areas of Arizona. The western part of Arizona is complimented by the Colorado River, while the east part has diverse climates and landscapes, from high desert, to dense forests. You could easily spend all year RVing in Arizona, moving from region to region, taking advantage of the weather.
With a diverse population, moved to the state from a lot of different places, there is a diversity of values. Arizona news and talk stations on the radio exhibit this. Political views tend to swerve to the conservative side, but there is are liberal areas, such as Tempe and Tucson. Arizona is also home to the Air America radio network, a heavily liberal talk radio network that is syndicated throughout the country. The leading talk radio station is usually 550 AM KFYI, a heavily conservative station.
Many pro golf courses compliment the state, it's a great place for your short-haired pets, and the crime in the rural areas is relatively low.
Arizona is a perfect place to be, if you are boondocking fulltime, with sunny, warm weather in the winter in the southern half of the state, and cooler weather up in the Ponderosa pine forests of the north!
