Tezpur is the town in Assam towards the border of Arunachal Pradesh.
It a small Indian town with, military lookout as the neighbouring state is under National security due to China border.
Jung fall is one of the most powerful falls of India, again this is one of the attraction you come across before reaching Tawang.
Tawang was the important part of our North East India Trip, our journey to Tawang started from Assam - Arunachal Pradesh border by a military car.
Since Arunachal Pradesh is a state under Military Surveillance, it is important to have clear paper work to enter the state, this checking is done at the border of Assam, before entering AP.
There is no other route to reach Arunachal apart from Road Ways, (there is a quick way to reach Tawang through Helicopter ride, but the service is conditional to only 2 days in a week and weather for sure). The infrastructure of AP is still developing, hence it is important to go with a local driver. As the roads are mountainous, narrow and gets misty around most of the year.
Additional plus point of travelling by road is the contrasting landscapes you will come across starting from the border with greens, to snow top mountains.
Tawang is a places surrounded by mountains and at very high altitude, hence it is advisable to have a halt in between for a night, than reaching Tawang in a day, all the way driving from Assam.
One more reason to take a halt is, During most of the year sunsets at North east by 5-6 pm and since the roads are still getting developed, it is sensible to take a halt and start afresh next morning.
Monpha is name of the Tawang Tribe, most of them practice Tibetan Buddhism.
on your way to Tawang, its common to pass by frozen lakes, herds of Yak, group of Monks, and beautiful snow clad mountains.
On our 3 day trip to Tawang, we took at halt at before reaching Tawang town, and spent 2 days at Tawang. On day 3, we visited India China Border which was 100 km ahead of Tawang town.
We experienced simplistic and welcoming culture of Tawang, with beauty all around. Tawang really was a tantalizing experience.
