Trekkers: Bopaiah .P, Sonali .M, Chandini .N and Myself.

Tadiandamol or Tadiyandamolu, is the highest peak of Kodagu district, KarnatakaIt is the third highest peak in Karnataka. It is located on the Western Ghats range, and reaches an elevation of 1,748 m. It is a place of interest for trekkers and naturalists. The mountain has patches of shola forests in the valleys.

The name Tadiandamol literally means largest base (Thadi = large or huge; Anda = belonging to ; Mol = hill or peak).

The peak is located in the South-Eastern part of Coorg and is 8 km from the town of Kakkabe which is 35 kms from Madikeri and 26 kms from Virajpet

Since our car could not go up till the base of the hill We started off the trek from the Nalkanad palace, which is at a distance of 2Kms from the base of

Tadianadamol. One will not find the trek difficult because there is a clear path that leads straight to the top of the hill. It took us almost 1.5Hrs to ascend the

hill because of its uphill terrain and took us almost an hour to descend. We walked a total of 11.46Kms (Onward and Return). The view from the top of the hill

is worth all the pain.

Best time to visit:

Between October and June.

Avoid trekking during the monsoon because of the deadly leeches.

Things to remember:

Carry enough water and food

Avoid noise pollution because its a wildlife area

Wear comfortable trekking shoes because it's a rocky trail

And do not forget to carry your camera!
