The world is a scary place right now. In a very short period of time, concerns surrounding public health have risen exponentially due to the coronavirus outbreak. A problem that seemed distant to many has quickly taken the whole world by storm, affecting everyone to some extent. Public places are getting locked down, masses are self-quarantining, workplaces are shutting down – the normalcy of life as we knew it is fading. Through all the chaos and panic, however, humans across the globe are doing what they know how to do best – adapt.
Heartfelt stories of people dealing with the pandemic
In Kerala, schools have been shut down as it has had the maximum number of positive cases for coronavirus. To help underprivileged children, the state is trying to deliver home deliver mid-day meals with the help of teachers and the general public.
According to reports, children who are on leave now due to the shutdown are sharing awareness about the virus through creative means such as making videos and door-to-door campaigns as well.
Italy is one of the countries that has experienced the worst of the pandemic. Its prime minister announced a national quarantine as the number of infected people were on a rise. Yet, people are singing from their balconies and keeping the spirit up.
Even the Italian Airforce put on a patriotic display by painting the Italian flag across the sky using coloured smoke.
Residents from Italy and Spain are giving rounds of applause from their balconies as a gesture of gratitude towards the health workers.
Online communities are coming together to help those in need too.
Children from a school in Columbus sent hand-made cards to the people in isolation.
As difficult as it is to be haunted by the uncertainty of the pandemic, having to suddenly change our lifestyle and isolating, it is important to take all precautions necessary to curb the spread of the virus. Keep up to date with the news but also instead of overloading on the negativity that causes anxiety, indulge in more feel-good stories that will instil your faith in the intrinsic kindness and ability to adapt and survive of our species.
Minimise going out of the house but remember to take care of your mental and physical health as well as extend (distant) support to your loved ones.
