Does it set your adrenaline pumping and heart racing when you see adventure junkies dive from 10,000 feet above in the sky with nothing but only a parachute strapped on? If yes, then your adventure-loving heart is yearning for an experience in skydiving in India.
When you finally decide to strap-on and dive, this information will come in handy.
Here are some types of sky dives –
1) Tandem Jump
Here you are connected to an instructor via a harness. Both of you jump together using the same parachute and the instructor pulls the cord. This is the simplest form of skydiving in India, and needs minimal instructions. The best part is that the entire experience will be recorded so that you can re-live the thrill even after it is all over, for the rest of your life.
2) Static Line Jump
The jump is made from only 3,000 feet and requires upto six hours of training. In this skydive you are connected with a cord to the aircraft, and the parachute opens automatically after around 3 seconds of free fall with no action required by the diver.
3) Accelerated Free Fall
This one is the real deal, where you jump without any attachments and free fall. It is one of the most challenging experiences of sky diving in India. It requires both classroom instructions and practical training, considering the serious nature of this dive and is done from at least 13,000 feet.
Skyriders is one of the places where one can learn and practice skydiving in India.
They have the following courses –
1) The First Jump Course
This is for those adventure lovers who are looking to go beyond one jump and wish to learn about skydiving in India. The course spans over three days in which those interested have to clear the Grade A and Grade B of parachute training. The training is provided as per the United States Parachute Association (USPA) guidelines and includes 8 hours of theory classes as well. In all, there are three jumps, which will see you becoming an amateur skydiver. The cost of this package for 3 days is Rs 95,000.
2) The Solo Jump Course
As is clear from the name itself, anyone who wishes to attain a level of proficiency where he/she can jump solo can register for this course. The course duration is of 5-7 days and this course is ideally suited for those who wish to take up sky diving in India as a career option. Once someone successfully completes this course, they would be qualified to jump solo without an instructor anywhere in the world at any of the United States Parachute Association (USPA) approved drop zones. The cost of the course is Rs 2,50,000/-
