Sinhagad aka Lion's Fort is a beautiful weekend gateway. It is around 40Km from Pune takes around 1.5hr depending on Pune traffic. Zoomcars or rental bikes are available in Pune and it is better to start by 12PM-1Pm so that sunset can be seen.
The ride to reach the fort is also picturesque so the ride won't be tiring. As it is situated in Sahyadri ranges, the best possible view of and around the fort can be experienced during monsoon season.
This fort was strategically important one during Maratha period and there are two gates to enter the fort, the Kalyan Darwaza and the Pune Darwaza.
The main attraction of the entire area is it's scenic beauty from the top of the fort and it can be better experienced by trekking through the hill slopes.
Vehicles are allowed till the Fort entrance, so those who cannot trek need not be disappointed.
On the way back to Pune, there is a beautiful Khadakwasla Lake, small food points are also present on the road, can have some Maggie/snacks, click some good pictures and return to Pune with loads of memories to cherish.
