Do you want to travel to Shimla in the budget? Here are all the breakdowns and itineraries of the trip so read them carefully. I and one of my friends traveled to Shimla in January 2021 in just 5000 per person. This was a 4 day trip from Delhi to Shimla. Let's start with how we planned and traveled.
We aboard at 10:00 pm on 10th January from the old Delhi railway station to Kalka the cost per person is only 125 rs for the 2nd sitting. We reached Kalka at 3:00 am. We booked a hotel near about 300-400 meters from Kalka railway station for a short period to relax and complete the snooze. Only 400 rupees for 2 people in a room with an attached bathroom.
We got a lot of rest which was better for our upcoming journey.
11th January at 10 AM we checked out from the hotel and off to Kalka-Shimla railway station. Due to the pandemic, only 3 toy trains run from Kalka to Shimla so our time was scheduled at 12:10 PM in Himalayan Queen with the cost of only 65 rupees per person for the 2nd sitting. The travel time from Kalka to Shimla is 5 hours covering 96km but how it'll climb you can't guess. The scene you'll encounter during the journey will amaze you. One of the most beautiful train journeys with 102 tunnels 864 bridges and 919 stunning curves. With the mesmerizing view of Himachal and its Hamlet, you never witnessed. There is a saying "journey is much more beautiful than the destination.
We enjoyed ourselves a lot and reached Shimla railway station on time @5:10 PM. There is an extraordinary view in front of us. It was sunset time with breathtaking views then we got out of the station and walked to the city. You can book a cab for your convenience. We started walking because we love to walk through the city to rejoice and have a better experience.
We booked a hotel for 2 days near the lakkar bazaar. There is a lot in budget. The stay cost 1000 Rs per day for 2 people. It was an amazing stay in a wooden interior room with the facilities of an attached bathroom, geyser, room heater, hot water, TV, and 24 × 7 room facility near lakkar bazaar.
There are many dhaba, cafes, and restaurants with multi-cuisine and served local and delicious food.
We had dinner at a local Dhaba which cost 200-300 rupees per person for Indian food then we went back to the hotel. The view outside of the hotel was tempting and cheerful. Later we planned to experience ice skating and other snow activities so Narkanda was the best place at that time then we decided to travel to Narkanda on 12th January. We googled about renting a Royal Enfiled (Classic or Bullet) bike in Shimla. So many rentals are there but "The Motorcyclist Bike Rental Agency, Shimla" was worth it. I contacted him via call and we discussed how to rent the bike. He cleared me about charges and what documents I have to submit.
Copy of 2 documents I had to submit
1 Aadhar card (xerox copy)
2 Driving license (xerox copy)
Charges were 1100 rupees per day without fuel with 2 complimentary helmets and 2000 rupees security deposit for the new version of Classic 350 of Royal Enfield. The security deposit will be refunded at the time of dropping the bike. Then he told me the location where I have to pick up the bike.

After a relaxing sleep, we wake up at 8:00 AM. I opened the door and went out. What a wonderful sight and it was so cold outside that my teeth started hitting each other. I enjoyed it because it was my first experience in minus degree ©. We had to wake up early because we had to pick up the bike. We freshened up and had a complimentary breakfast at the hotel and went to get the bike. It was close to the hotel, we took the bike and set out on the journey to Narkanda which is 90kms from Shimla.
Thrilled, Thrilled, Thrilled
The ride was so exciting and a little bit risky. I was nervous the first time I was losing my confidence because of so many curves and the road was covered by snow and it became an ice sheet. Wheels are sleeping on the ice.
Riding on this black sheet road was adventurous and mesmerizing. One side Ditch another side high mountain and in the middle, I was riding a bike and the view was so amazing. Finally, we reached Narkanda after traveling 90kms. The view there was worth seeing. We were excited, there was snow all around. There were different prices for different activities but we booked a package of all the activities which cost 1000 rupees for one person including snow dress, boots, ice-skating, sledding, tube ride, etc. We enjoyed ourselves a lot I can't describe it in words. The heartwarming view we were jumping and sliding in the snow. Hitting each other with snow had a lot of fun. Eating Maggie in the mountain has a different way of rejoicing. Then we went back to the hotel at 5 PM.
we rested for 2 hours then changed clothes and went to The Ridge Shimla. It is restricted to drive vehicles inside the city. We walked to the top of The Ridge and visited Christ Church, Museum, Water fountain, and saluted our national flag. We were starving so We enjoyed delicious food and lip-smacking burgers, momos, pasta, noodles, and more street food near the mall road then came back to the hotel and slept.
13th Jan 2021
We woke up and checked out from the hotel and reached the Shimla bus stand by walk. We took a bus to Chandigarh from Shimla at 11 AM the fare was 250 rupees for a single. It was also a scenic route and it will give you a breathtaking view. We reached Chandigarh at 4 PM then out for Delhi from Chandigarh at 5 PM which cost us 265 rupees for one and reached Delhi at 11:30 PM. Bon voyage
