We drove down from Kasauli to Shimla. While the road is broad enough but presently lots of road widening is going on.
It's two and half hours to Shimla.
We checked into Knockdrin, in the Army Cantt Area.
The roads are all lined up for miles with vehicles. Traffic jams are frequent. Time plan must cater for delays due to traffic.
Temp are just about nippy cold and a jacket is preferable.
In the AN we took a cab and first went to the Tara Devi temple. While Jakhu Hills are on one side, Tara Devi temple is on the other side. The climb is steep and the driver was good. Tara Devi deity has Godess Kali to her right and Godess Saraswati to her left. One can see miles across into Shimla and the valleys around.
The we went to Sankat Mochan temple. Very neat and clean temple.
The Vaishnodevi temple is on the road highway itself.
The Indian Institute of Advance Studies (IAAS) is indeed an historical place. Many intricacies of our historical freedom struggle can be revisited again. The ticket is for 200/- per head.
The garden has dome glorious flowers. The Rose collection is special.
The Army Heritage Museum is the pinnacle of all places in Shimla. A must visit place for true nation lovers. Army has done a wonderful work to bring across its history in such a detailed way.
The evening at Mall is the best time. We started with Golgappa at Devicos.
Then we went to the famous Brew Estate and had Thai, Draught beer and Pizzas. The dance and music was exotic and quite Punjabi in taste.
Kufri
It was raining intermittently but still we decided to go out. The journey was great.
We avoided the adventure park activities due to rain but ventured into the Zoo instead.
From the Zoo we went to Wild Flower Resort for lunch. Alas, there was an ongoing wedding on and we had to move ahead.
Chail
The road trip to Chail is laced with pines on either sides and lovely valleys. Besides we went right upto the Kali Tibba temple.
Chail Palace
The palace has a lovely restaurant where we enjoyed our local cuisine.
