The current pandemic has countries taking up all sorts of measures to prevent further spread of the virus. Restrictions have been imposed globally and all movement, and as a result, the global economy has come to a standstill. It is not out of the blue, then, that Schengen Area and its Associated Member states have issued warnings that they may remain shut till September 2020. EU has announced extension of closure until the middle of May.
According to reports, once these restrictions are lifted, all those who wish to travel to Schengen countries will have to get tested for the virus and submit it with their Visa applications. The results must be no more than two weeks old. The visitors might be asked to take the test twice – once when the they are applying for the Visa and once when they are travelling to make sure that they have not been infected in the meanwhile. These kind of precautions have also been taken for Ebola and flu and special care will be taken when dealing with worst-hit member states.
