Shivneri fort is birthplace of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It is situated near Junnar town in the district of Pune, about 105 Kilometres from Pune. Best place for Bike Ride Trip, Road from pune to junnar is awesome. We enjoy the ride.
This fort is surrounded by steep upwards slopes from all four sides and is unassailable. There is small temple of Goddess Shivai and idols of Jijabai (Mother of Shri Shivaji) and Shivaji in his childhood. There are seven strong gates through which we need to cross to reach the fort.
This is a good location to go for a trip with your family as the fort has wide comfortable steps to go to the top which can be scaled in 1 hour (i.e. one way), even with kids in tow. The authorities have provided amenities like drinking water and toilets
