Weekends are the best ways to explore the places nearby, and when that adds up with a fantastic stay, it serves as the cherry on top. There are so many beautiful properties near Pune and Mumbai to choose from. In this article, I am going to talk about one such property that I visited on a weekend and fell in love.
While browsing the internet for weekend getaways, I stumbled upon a resort named Malhaar Machi near Pune. The pictures of the resort looked enticing, and I booked it in a wink.
How to get there
I visited Malhaar Machi with my better half, and we drove all the way from Mumbai. Malhaar Machi is 170 km from Mumbai, and it takes approx 4-5 hours to reach. From Pune, it's around 50 km and takes an hour or two. The best way to get here is by car.
About the Resort
Malhar Machi is a mountain resort in Mulshi near Pune set in the lap of Sahyadri Mountains. The insides of the resort feels like the mountains have enveloped you in the arms far from the city noises.
The rooms are big and luxurious with all the modern amenities. The rooms here also have a balcony which overlooks Mulshi lake and the mountains.
For larger groups, they have an equally luxurious dorm that can fit eight people or more.
Stay options & Cost
Malhaar Machi has five types of cottages: Maharaja, Premium, Bougainvillaea cottages, Maharaja dormitory, and Premium dormitory.
The package starts from Rs 12,000 and is inclusive of breakfast, lunch, high tea, and dinner.
Food
The food here is made with organically grown veggies and herb. The food is super fresh and incredibly delicious, and there are many varieties for vegetarians and non-vegetarians. In the evening, there is a live barbeque set up, which is excellent, especially during winter months. One can also request for a candlelight dinner by the pool.
The resort has one restaurant and one bar.
Activities
It's hard to get bored in the resort as there are tons of activities to choose from playing indoor games like Snooker, Table tennis, Carrom, Cards, Chess to outdoor activities like Horse, Tractor & Cycle Ride. For more relaxing activity, one can also indulge nature walk, learn about organic farming, go for exotic SPA or use the infinity swimming pool which overlooks the part of Mulshi backwaters and the mountains.
The resort also has a kids play area and a children park.

This place is perfect for anyone who wants an escape from city life and surrounded by nature.
Best time to visit
Best time to visit this place is during the monsoons and around the winters. Just make sure you plan your trip way ahead because this place tends to get booked fast.
