Day 2

For today we again planned to go to the helipad 😁 though we had already visited the place but we couldn't have enough of the majestic view of sunrise over Mt Kangchenjunga. What to say about the view. I really fall short of words to describe its beauty. what I saw and what I felt at that moment is beyond expressing. I was just living in that moment . Nothing else was there in my mind. Spending an hour there with the amazing view and with some of our furry friends ( they were quiet friendly), we headed back to hotel and got ready for our day 2 tour.

At 8:00am our guide bhaiya came to pick us and today's first destination was Skywalk. The Skywalk situated in pelling is the first glass floored skywalk of India . It was inaugurated in the year 2018. It is situated at a height of 7,200 ft. It also has a world tallest statue of Chenrezig of 137 ft (42mtr). The skywalk offers an exquisite view of Mt. Kangchenjunga. Reach early morning there to avoid crowd and you will also get a clear view of Mt. Kangchenjunga.

After that we headed to singshore bridge. From skywalk it is approximately 22 to 24 km far. It took us one and a half hour to reach there. Just enjoy the view while travelling to singshore bridge. Its relaxing and peaceful. The singshore suspension bridge is the highest bridge in Sikkim and second highest in Asia with a height of approx 100 mtr and length of 240 mtr. By the time we reached singshore bridge we were quite hungry so we had a bowl of maggie and a cup of tea from nearby stall (I don't know why but mountain maggie tastes so good) and clicked some pictures.

Our next stop was Rabdentse ruins. It was  established in 1670AD as the second capital of Sikkim till 1814 AD. It is an important archaeological site that is protected by the ASI (Archeological Society of India). For history buffs, this is a must-see.

The route to the ruins takes you through a dense forest. There is also a bird park along the way (it was closed for restoration when we visited). To reach the ruins, hike 1 kilometres (20 -25 minutes) through the forest. It offers a wonderful view of Mt. Kangchenjunga as well as the valley.
By the time we reached the top, we were starving. There was a small shop selling local snacks. We tried a bowl of flattened rice (poha) soaked in spicy potato curry. To be honest it tasted heavenly. ( because I love simple food).

Our next stop was Pemayangtse Monastery. Unfortunately , due to Covid ( We visited in December 2020) it was closed and we weren't able to visit it.
It was still 3:00 pm, and we had nothing planned, so our driver bhaiya drove us to the upper pelling football ground. There was a local football tournament going on. He invited us to watch the match with him. One thing that I loved the most was that the people there were quiet welcoming.  They offered us "noon chai" or salt tea. I'd never had salt tea before, but to be honest it was good. Though I am not that into football, still I enjoyed it. After the match we again went to the helipad ( sorry but i liked that place way to much) to watch sunset. And with that sunset our trip to pelling comes to an end.
