We spent lot of bucks while visiting malls, luxury resorts and over budgeted restaurants during New Year or Christmas holidays. But this time had some other thought in mind to spend some quality time of life and started exploring the web for nearby magical experiences. While surfing the same had came to know about "PRANI - The Pet Sanctuary"
Did some homework for the place and started early 9 am for the place. The place is located away from city on Kanakpura Road (Sommanhalli village).
Don't go by it's location over map, it's really a nice place from inside with many pets and their staff as care taker for them.
As the name suggests it's pet sanctuary where individuals get chance to interact with pets, touch them and feel them. It's worth far better than visiting a zoo. Every animal had their own story being it abandoned race course horse (Maya), German cow (Martha), Sheep (Goonty), Hamsters, Emu Rabbits much more.
Many of us had touched personally a cow, a horse, a rabbit etc, but Emu ?
Yes that's true they allow to touch even Emu, Feed the birds inside their cage and feed goats.
Few things to be noted:
- Reach early at least by 10 am so that you will get Batch 1 or Batch 2 during tour and get enough space to park the vehicle
- In morning batches pets are hungry so you can feed them and they will respond you well, in later batches they got bored and less hungry so may be less responsive
- Listen to guides carefully, they are really trying hard to explain you the things and they are really co-operative.
- Every pet had it's own story and should be respected.
- These pets are rescued from different part of country and may be around the world
- Most interesting thing is they allow to touch pets and we enjoyed that feeling.
- It's really a kid's friendly place for kid's more than 4-5 yrs old if he/she didn't seen any pet animals or village life.
- Don't expect any food nearby, they have their own but not sure about taste and quality.
- Before PRANI, a few distance back (3-4 kms) there is a village Sommanhalli, you can take breakfast there itself
Unfortunately one feeling I had after visiting this place is that this is bit costly as 400 Rs per person even for 3+ yrs old kids. But these 400 Rs are bit more feasible if they are spent for welfare of these pets or as part of salary for staff and care takers of these pets.
P.S.: Obviously none of the organisation can run without any money and PRANI being privately funded firm so we should do our part by contributing some amount for them.
As we also know and they also know that you will hardly been here for second time unless you are really a pet lover or something else, so paying a 400 Rs is quite OK for them.
