Kasauli, an idyllic town in Himachal Pradesh, is known for its colonial history and beautiful mountains. It is one of the smallest hill stations in India and does not boast many tourist spots. It is merely a tiny cantonment nestled in the Himalayan foothills. Then why do people visit it? Why do people flock to it at the slightest opportunity for 'workations'? Why choose it over its more famous counterparts? What secret pleasures does this tiny town offer?

Here is a look at some unexpected delights of Kasuali which would make you plan your next workation here:

1. Stunning Views

If you are an Instagrammer who loves to stop on the sidewalk to take pictures or likes to post photos taken from hotel balconies, then Kasuali is just the right place for you! It does not have high-rise buildings; therefore, most hotels have rooms only till the first floor. Most of them also have balconies with stunning views of the Sub-Himalayan Range. You can enjoy a steaming cup of Chai and Pakoras sitting cross-legged as you soak in the gorgeous views.

2. A Great Place To Find Your Center

Imagine you are a writer or a voracious reader or just someone looking for a workation, and you are sitting on a comfortable recliner in a Kasauli hotel, with a view of the hills, as you work, read or write. A promising prospect, isn't it? There is something cathartic about the tranquility of Kasauli, something that makes you forget the world outside. You will get a lot of work done here unless pretty sights make you daydream more often, in which case, it is not the place for your workation!

3. The Leisurely Strolls Along The Mall Road

Kasauli's Mall Road is not as glamourous as the Mall roads of Mussorie or Shimla. However, it is one of the most peaceful mountain strolls I have taken in my life. It is a scenic trail, of course, but it is also truly an escape from the humdrum of city life because of the tranquillity and calmness it offers. During the rainy season, the mall road becomes a lush green paradise for you to explore post work.

4. Shopping For The Little Things

The Mall Road has many quaint shops to tickle the shopaholic in you. You can buy everything from the Tibetian prayer flags to Rustic bells to beautiful decor pieces; the place is a heaven for avid collectors. Sometimes, you can also pick up beautiful statement pieces to amp up your style.

5. The Delicious Food

Like any Indian hill station, Kasauli has numerous Maggi shops that seem super-inviting during the rainy strolls. The Tibetan eateries are also famous, with steaming momos and noodles on offer. The Kasauli delicacy, 'Bun Samosa', is also a must-try. Enjoy these delicacies as you saunter around the mall road, shopping for your favorite knick-knacks. Most of the food is reasonably priced.

6. The Christ Church For Your Spiritual Musings

The Christ Church is a sanctuary for the architecture-lovers and the religiously inclined. If you crave spiritual escapes after long workdays, then this is the perfect place for you. Not only is the church quiet and ideal, but the surrounding area is also equally endearing with a gorgeous view of the mountains. Imagine taking a stroll down the mall road after work and popping into the church for a meditation session.

7. The Sunset Point

Picture this- you are in the middle of your workation, and you are itching for some mid-week inspiration. So, you head up to Sunset Point and spend hours there, just sitting and staring at the setting sun with some soul-satisfying views of the mountains. Sounds just perfect to the hodophile in me!

8. Fewer People On The Streets

Since Kasauli is a smaller town and is less popular than the other hill stations, fewer people are on the streets, which ensures a certain modicum of calm and quiet. For workationers, it is the ideal setting as there are fewer vacationers than the other places.

9. Gilbert Trail

For the avid hikers, weekends could offer a fun retreat to the Gilbert Trail in Kasauli. It is a 1.5 km stone pathway and is a haven for nature- lovers. It is nestled in heavy foliage and is a great place for photographers as well.

How to reach from Delhi: Reach Chandigarh via flight or Shatabdi. Take a cab to Kasauli (2 hours 50 mins).

Workation Hot Spots: The Majestic Cedar (Villa Property), Whispering Winds Villa, Kasauli Courtyard, Hampstead Residences, Kasauli Regency, Airbnb Rentals

If the traveler in you is tingling and you are bored of working from home, pack your bags and head to Kasauli for a workation. Work hard, rejuvenate yourself, and thank me later!
