The temple derives its name from Lord Shiva, who is believed to have consumed the poison Halahala that emerged from the ocean during the Samudra Manthan. The poison turned his throat blue, hence the name Neelkanth, meaning 'The Blue Throated One.

Reaching Neelkanth Mahadev is a pilgrimage in itself. Devotees trek through the winding paths, surrounded by the majestic beauty of the Himalayas, their faith guiding them forward.

You can also reach by driving from rishikesh for 20 km. and road is well connected by buses
