If one city feels no different than Bombay, its Ahmedabad in many aspects.
Its one place flocked time and again by frequent dealers, businessmen, families, and yes... Travellers like me too !
An overnight journey of roughly 6 hours by Duranto Express 12267 (Bombay = Rajkot) makes you alight ~ 6 am at Ahmedabad Jumction.
My travel to Ahmedabad has mostly been for friendly occasions, however this time seeing Ahmedabad was something I dint want to let go, and it was all worth;
Because there is Peace at Sabarmati Ashram
Sabarmati Ashram is a calm place alongside the Sabarmati River. A great feature of this place is that Gandhiji has spent enormous time in his house.
Because Architecture is to die for;
The Huthseeing Jain Temple complex is a marvel to witness. If you have a tour guide accompained, they would tell you the association of the Godess in this temple with the Bollywood movie Padmavaat. The miniature 52 God versions have striking eyes that one can witness as you cross each of them. The Stumb outside the main temple in the complex has a remarkable history associated with itself.
The Sidi Saiyyed's Mosque is known for its wooden embedded window architecture, so much so that it is adopted as the IIM Ahmedabad Logo.
Because what roots History has astonishes you;
The Julta Minara are quite unique that a small force on one of the pairs can cause the other also to sway. History has it that there were 3 pairs, one of which succumbed to crumble, the other could not be rennovated well by craftsmen, and the third existing one stands delicate enough to be restricted by ASI.
The other fascinating place is Rani Sipri's Mosque. The special thing about this place is that the mosque has carnations of Hindu Temple Bells, and right opposite the mosque is Rani Sipri's tomb. The mosque highlights the close association on common beliefs between Hinduism and Islam.
Because Meusems are dedications;
The Sardar Patel National Memorial is quite a big place to see. With a lot of statues and history of Ahmedabad, this place takes ~ 1 hour to see its span.
Because Step Wells are the ultimate things in Ahmedabad
The 2 most notable step wells in Ahmedabad are Dada Harir Ni Vav and Adalaj Stepwell.
The Adalaj stepwell has a haunting and daunting history attached to it. As you go deep and down to the centre, the history resonates in your ears, making you look around at the hidden and amazing piece of work. History speaks of the fact as to how a Queen smartly betrayed her alliance with another King who killed her Husband, yet made him build this Stepwell which was her Husband's dream.
The Adalaj Stepwell is one of the best pieces of finite and clear cut architectures I have seen, and makes an ideal picturesque.
Because Night Markets are a different a Charm altogether;
Some of the best things of Ahmedabad are within its lanes.
Which were its gates, dargahs, food points, etc, and a sealing to your trip especially at Ahmedabad are the pack of Theplas at the Railway Stations.
A travel always leaves you restless, because it is not possible to cover all, and this will make you come back to this place, maybe sooner or later...
