When I first started to think of going to Italy, I got excited, numb and sometimes even worried about how I would manage it alone out there in a different country with a different language, people and traditions. As I started getting close and started researching about it, I realized it is going to be the best experience of my life. Italy is known for its beauty, architecture, heritage and lovely people with great food taste. As the days passed, my worries changed into excitement, and I could not stop myself from waiting profusely to land in Italy.

Planning a Solo Trip To Italy

Planning a trip is not as easy as it seems, especially if you are a solo traveler There are lots of questions to be answered, such as where do you want to live, is the place safe for solo travelers, what is going to be the expenses since there is no contribution and much more. I started with accommodation and then moved forward to cities, heritage tourist attractions, offers and packages and much more. For me, the best part in Italy was the vacation home rentals and the amenities they offer. After that, of course, Italy never fails to disappoint you in any way.

Finding Budget-Friendly Apartments

Finding a budget-friendly vacation home rentals with basic amenities in Italy was not a herculean task. There are a lot of studio apartments, villas, holiday homes where you can stay. I started surfing vacation saga, which provides one of the best properties in Europe at very affordable prices. I wanted a single bedroom with a small kitchen so that I can make my own food at any time of the day (or night).

Searching for the apartment was not difficult. I got in touch with the owner who knew my language, and I easily spotted my property in the area. As soon as a reached Rome, I went to my apartment which was not very far away from the airport. I was warmly welcomed by the owner, who showed me around and explained all the services and amenities to me. My apartment also had free wifi.

Amenities at the Apartment

I found a nice place in Rome. The apartment had one bedroom with air-conditioner, a kitchen with all basic amenities such as a microwave, an oven, a fridge, a kettle and other kitchenware. There was a bathroom with shower and bidet. Apart from this, there was a small living room along with a TV and a balcony with a very pleasant city view. The apartment was very close to the airport. I chose this feature deliberately on vacation saga since I did not want to spend time in commute. The location was perfect. All the iconic heritage sites were near my accommodation, and I did not have to spend much on commute in terms of time or money.

Advantages-

I cannot say there were many disadvantages to living in vacation home rentals in Italy. I will list out the advantages for you.

1. Centrally located

My apartment was centrally located which made it very easy for me to walk around the city, meet new people and visit historical sites in Rome. I did not have to take the bus or the train even once throughout my trip.

2. Budget-Friendly

I will not deny that there were hotels with the same rate as my apartment, but none of them had the same amenities or the same location as my apartment. It was cheap and fitted well within my budget as a solo traveler. All solo travelers must try out renting a vacation home on their next trip, they will not regret the experience at all.

Disadvantages-

As I had said before, there were no such disadvantages for me. However there may be some facilities that are available at a hotel, that was not available here such as the cleaning staff, extra bedding and all. As a solo traveler, it was not at all a problem for me. I had one bedroom which was perfectly comfortable. I cleaned the kitchen area after cooking myself and did not need a cleaning staff during my stay.

Experiences as a Solo Traveler

My experience as a solo traveler in Italy was by far the best experience of my life. I walked around the entire Rome city, witnessing history and culture through its local people. I also made new friends who showed me around to new places and took me to classic eateries where I tasted the most amazing wines in the world. I liked the solitude of my apartment and the amenities it offered. I did not find any uncomforted during my stay due to the warm nature of my host.

The view from my accommodation was lovely, it presented the whole of Rome city in panoramic form. The terrace was also accessible by me, where I spent my evenings and nights, reading a book or sipping coffee.

Cost Involved-

My apartment almost cost me 30 Euros for the whole stay, which was quite amazing. Apart from that, saved due to its central location. Piazza Navona, Pantheon and all other iconic sites were within a walking distance, which made me save on train tickets. Even the food in Rome was not very expensive. My one time dining out cost came around 10-15 euros Per day. Of course, I like dining in local eateries with the local people to witness their culture if you like fine dining, then this cost may go up.

Overall, my experience in Italy with its food, wine, people and history was by far the best. I had found the perfect place to stay with all the amenities, and could not have asked for more. The people were friendly, loving and caring. I did not feel homesick. I liked the apartment because of its architecture, accommodation, amenities. I liked the city because it's ROME! If you are a solo traveler, looking for places to go to on a budget, Rome is one of the best places on Earth for you.
