Valentine's week is here and everyone must be having something special to celebrate about this week.
Every day has its own significance and for each day I would like to write a letter (you can call it a love letter) to different cities I have visited so far in India.
Speaking of which I would like to start this series from my city, Aurangabad.
I met Abad ( what we Aurangabadkars fondly call it) when my dad took VRS (Voluntary Retirement Service) and decided to shift at a place where my grandfather lives. I was introduced to this place when I was 10 years old and here I am after 18 years, still loving and admiring the beauty and the history of this city so much..
Abad is not only known for its UNESCO World Heritage sites like Ellora and Ajanta caves. But the city is also known for its replica of Taj Mahal that we call as Bibi ka Maqbara and as a place for one of the famous Jyotirlinga temples, Grishneshwar
Though out of all these places ,only Bibi ka maqbara falls in the city, rest are a part of extended Aurangabad. Ellora caves and Grishneshwar temple lies at a distance of 30kms from the city and Ajanta caves at 100kms. Both the caves attract alot of foreign tourists due to its listing in UNESCO sites and also due to the very famous carvings in the caves.
After all the time I have spent making a living in Pune, I have always missed the impact that Abad has in my life. Thank you for shaping my career and giving me a path that I would have never imagined of.
That's my story from my city. Would like to hear all of your stories and experiences from your city. Lets make this Valentine's week a memorable and a touristy one..
