"Odisha"India's best kept secret has many awesome peaceful destination with less crowd,one of them is this hill station Mahendragiri the highest peak of Odisha.
On the way one would see beautiful fields,crops,trees and superawesome waterfalls.
Since am a resident of Odisha I stay near bhubaneswar ,I took a train from Bhubaneswar to Bhramapur of approx 2.5hrs Seater Tkt ranges from Rs85 to Rs120. People from other states can take a flight to bhubaneswar and then book a cab which would cost around Rs 3500 to Bhramapur else take a train as me and then book Cab at Bhramapur to Mahendragiri which would cost around Rs4000 for the day.
Nearest stay option is Bhramapur before or after the trip.
People travelling by road from Andhra Pradesh as this place is near to Andhra border can stay at icchapuram and book Cab from there.
Me and my relatives took a early Morning train from Bhubaneswar to Bhramapur, Hired a Cab for Mahendragiri from Bhramapur railway station which started at around 8am.
It takes 2hrs from Bhramapur to Mahendragiri but if you visit Parsuram kund and certain waterfalls on the way it will be around 3 to 3.5 hours.
The road journey is a mix of Highway, sometimes cutting through villages and fields and sometimes bumpy mountain roads so prefer offroad vehicles like Scorpio Sumo etc for comfort else as per your budget. Have food wherever you see hotels and carry enough food and water as once you are 30km close to Mahendragiri one won't find much shops or hotels as its into the mountains and a secret 😃place so not much business for the vendors.
You can depend on the Google map for this place its accurate.
Parsuram kund is a must visit ,a awesome waterfall flows through a lonely village.
Lord Parsuram has its own significance.
After reaching the base of Mahendragiri
There is a short trek from the base to the top ,which is uneven mountain climbing of around 20min of climb,one needs to be very careful,but the view after reaching the top is sureshot mind blowing.
On the top you will find a temple where if you pass through effortlessly your sins are forgiven
