The Konkan Railway is a 741km long rail route that connects Mumbai in Maharashtra to Mangalore in Karnataka, passing through Goa.
It runs parallel to the Arabian sea, through the dense forests in the Western Ghats.
There are a total of 92 tunnels and 179 major bridges on the route. Karbude is the longest tunnel on the route with a length of 6.5kms.
The Konkan rail route holds a significant achievement for being constructed in a difficult terrain prone to heavy rainfall and landslides.
However, it is this very terrain that makes for scintillating visuals
