One of the best things about the Morni Fort is that it’s not just a tourist attraction but also a place where one can learn about nature and how it works.
Another fascinating fact about this place was converted from an ancient 200 years old fort into a Natural Museum at an expense of INR 10 Million. Although it has been completely overhauled the four watchtowers stand tall of the Morni Fort and I certainly felt the presence of warriors.
This place was opened for public on 13 November 2017 by Rao Narbir Singh, however, due to my schedule I was unable to visit this place sooner, but hey never late than never. Since I heard about it I’ve always wanted to visit such a place that holds lingering energy of wars yet at the same time educates us about nature, it's quite a unique feat honestly. What really bounded me here to stay longer and explore more was the teachings that were told beautifully, stating how we humans are the wrong in the equation of environment as no other animal is capable of generating pollution and self-made harmful products. This all is done via visual and psychological teaching, which in itself is an unique feature. Old rooms, washrooms and other important quarters were revamped into an interactive gallery consisting of things like Tiger’s den, flora and fauna gatherings and so on which does a great job of projecting the problems faced by wildlife and how it’s degrading. Not to mention, the beautiful infographics on the walls with statues, I found myself just standing there and taking it all in for quite some time. Overall, that was definitely an eye opening experience for me at least and I highly recommend others visit this place for that solely, however, there’s more.What I really appreciated about this centre was that it was specifically designed to attract a younger audience as future generations must understand and grasp the importance of control over their carbon footprint. Even though I’ve a bad sense of direction I still was able to spot this place from 4 plus kilometers from the Morni Town thanks to its location on a hilltop. I never would’ve thought that will come in handy but it sure did.
What’s better than showcasing animals than using real animals? Incorporating life-like animal figures in 3D constructed environments. This is the type of educational tour I’m boasting for, being an animal lover it relieves me to see no animals are being harmed. I was quite pleased with 1:30 hours of tour duration and delighted to be more knowledgeable about the environment.
I really hope more people show up at this place as it’s an amazing experience.
