Has anyone ever been to Mahabaleshwar in monsoon season? If not then I suggest if you are going for the first time it might possible you cannot spot any points because of fog but if you have visited Mahabaleshwar many times then I must say one can enjoy the best foggy atmosphere in between the serene routes of mountains.
The best time to just enjoy nature and be serene and to relax for 4-5 days is the monsoon. Talking about our trip we haven't been to Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani before so we had enjoyed a lot in foggy weather but the drawbacks we weren't able to spot any spots
Day -1 Starting from Tableland offers the highest point at 4550 feet above sea level. The five hills surrounding Panchgani near Mahabaleshwar are topped by a volcanic plateau, which is the second-highest in Asia after the Tibetan plateau.
One can take a horse ride or guide to reach many points like tiger caves, Sydney point, lingmala waterfall, Wilson point and many more
As our driver suggested not to take the horse riding option as we love to hike in muddy scapes, we started heading towards the nearest place but due to the ultimate fog, we were completely lost and not able to see anything to reach a certain place, then one stranger helped us to get reach at tiger caves.
PS - If you are visiting tableland in monsoon or winter season try to take local guide with you, if you like long hike ignore horse riding.
The ongoing path of tiger caves was so serene and full of lush greens we rather enjoyed the paths of tiger caves and clicks some beautiful pictures of the location. Then we got some help from one guide uncle over there he was 70 years old but very energetic and enthusiastic person, he showed us as much as possible places of tableland from his telescope and also cover most of the places though it was foggy yet it wasn't clear vision but we enjoyed.
On the next day we covered proper Mahabaleshwar in rainfall we checked in 'Mapro Gardens' and went to elephant head point, Lodwick point, Arthur's seat, Wilson point, Mahabaleshwar temple, Pratap Garh fort we enjoyed these serene places in a foggy atmosphere so we were not able to see the points but we enjoyed being there and did some herping and find new offbeat places on the roads.
The next day as it was the last day we took only one destination in Lonavala we did herping there at 'Rajmachi fort' trek, a long way covering 10kms with many small waterfalls and greenery we did halfway and herping and enjoyed the serene routes of the mountains as the fort was closed due to rain.
