This is the third part of Meghalaya story, which we never wanted to end. Unfortunately, every beginning has an end and only thing we can make is a beautiful ending
Good part of our package trip is, we can customize as per our comfort as entire audiences are our own cousins. So, with a troop not interested in long walks/treks, we had to avoid one of the best attractions of Meghalaya 'Living Root Bridges' that too 'Double decker root bridge' and unique trek in Meghalaya i.e. Bamboo trek at Mawryngkhang
To suite our group's interest, we planned to visit 'Wei Sawdong' waterfalls and Mawsmai caves on Day 3 which has easy or moderate trek level
We had to bid good bye to current accommodation and pack our whole luggage and leave for a new place today, so we started bit late and started our day with fueling our hunger stomachs
We spent sometime capturing memories at Mawkajem Lapynshongdor View point which is right next to hotel
We had to rush after the photo session to cover attractions of Day 3. We started towards 'Wei Sawdong falls', which is a 3 tier falls that includes a moderate level trek of around 400 steps down hill which includes bamboo steps post view point junction
The route to waterfalls is bit difficult unless we have a grip and control over our walk. For those people who cannot make it, we have steps till view point of magnificent waterfalls which will satisfy the eyes and soul
Everyone climbing back said, its a tough path but worth the risk and energy we put in to see such a wonderful falls. That inspired us more to go down soon and spend quality time there
We spent around 1.5 to 2 hours including trek time at this location, so we had left with very less time before we reach our next attraction i.e. Mawsmai caves
People from Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh also visited during the same time and they recognized us as yellow gang when climbing up and greeted us
Orange roots surprised us with South Indian breakfast menu in the evening i.e. Dosa varieties, everyone was delighted and had food stomach full
This hotel is located in prime location or highway I can say, the food served was quick and yummy
We had more options today in breakfast, so spent more time here for breakfast and pics session. This restaurant is next to "Mawkajem Lapynshongdor View point, Meghalaya" that gives picturesque hills view that comes with a cost (Entry fee of 20/- per person)
After tiresome trek at 'Wei sawdong' waterfalls, we had delicious snacks at the parking area and started towards next attraction i.e. Mawsmai caves
'Mawsmai caves' is a blend of Yana caves (Karnataka) and Belum caves (Andhra Pradesh) to me. It has a adventure flavor of Yana and geological resemblance of Belum caves
It has rocks, fossils, pathways, flowing water, dark areas, tricky areas, slippery areas and narrow pathways too
We have 2 parts of Mawsmai caves, 1st one is small and simple, followed by the second which is bit lengthy and complex to cover. We saw only one and planned to skip the next as we wanted to move for a snack and dinner combined meal for Day 3
We need to purchase a separate entry ticket for 'Mawsmai caves' (Part 2)
On the exit path from Mawsmai caves (part 1), we have a store that gives Meghalaya attire for rent, where we can click some beautiful memories. As we were hungry, no one had enough stamina for more pictures and started towards our vehicle
Before getting into vehicle had some yummy charcoal roasted corn and fresh fruits
We witnessed one of the beautiful sunset again in Meghalaya on Day 3 as well just in front of the restaurant we had dinner
After Dinner, we started towards our new accommodation whose details to follow below
This appears to be 3 star accommodation as per internet, not sure. But, its not up to the mark. Few rooms door locks were not working, bath room windows were broken, we slept peacefully based on assurance provided that its a safe locality only 'God knows the truth'. Rest rooms, beds and bedding was very good which cannot be denied
Everyone were tired a lot due to Wei Sawdong falls trek, no lunch and early snacks cum Dinner
Good part of this property was the room attendant who was very humble, polite and sweet guy. He helped us in luggage shifting, arranging a bon fire and water for drinking in no time
Finally we took hot water bath again in this hotel to freshen up a bit, spent time eating some packed food while listening to soothing music near campfire site and went to deep sleep to wind off the day
