7 day trip to Nepal - Adventure, Heritage, Pubs & Nature
Some quick things about Nepal (specifically from an Indian traveler's perspective)
1) Indian currency can be used at 80% of the places including shopping outlets by the roadside
2) 500- 1000 Re notes are not allowed, only 100 and denominations less than that
3) Food takes incredibly long to come to your table, average time after placing an order is around 25-30 mins, and if you order in two rounds you will end up watching the ceiling for a long time to go
4) Road travel is the best means of transport however be aware that the average speed on highways is about 25- 30 kmph, it may be much longer in case of traffic jam (mostly due to an accident)
5) In Apr, its cold in the mornings and nights but afternoons are very warm
6) Alcohol (& especially beer) is avaialble everywhere in Nepal, it would be a stupid idea to buy anything at the Duty free shop ;)
7) All cafe's, however small have free wifi, get in - ask for Wi-Fi password and chill out
Hotel Classic is a small hotel, where we stayed overnight
Mountain flight - beautiful view of the Mt Everest and surrounding Himalayan range. It was totally worth the money. Mountain flight is one of the top 12 experiences in Nepal listed by Lonely Planet.
White water rafting in the Trishuli river - top 12 experiences in Nepal listed by Lonely Planet - rightly so, the cold water and the tense rapids make for a thriller experience, although the rapids were not over 3- 3+ (owing to summer). starting point - Charaundi (travel from KTM in the morning) end point - Mugling (from here you can drive down to Pokhara) 15 km rafting (with intermediate swimming breaks between rapids)
Terrace has a brilliant view, perfect place for travelers, prices are very reasonable, about 600 NPR for a double bedroom, Mr Narayan is a wonderful host. Its not a luxury hotel but has all the basic amenities which a traveler needs.
There are like a gazillion awesome pubs and eat outs in Pokhara, you can spend like an entire week exploring the cafe's, pubs, lakes, shops in Pokhara. Be prepared to shell out some cash only on food.
Paragliding - jumping off a cliff at Pokhara
One of the most popular pubs at Pokhara with live music. Many pubs have live music, but this place is one of the more famous and "happening" ones

This is a perfect place for a traveler again, reasonable prices, friendly staff, in the middle of Thamel, only basic amenities, hygienic rooms Only issue could be - there are no lifts and your room could be in the 5th, 6th floor. But since you are an adventure enthusiast its ok ;)
Thamel is the most happening area in Kathmandu, buzzling with activity, colour, music and food. - If you go Nepal, you dont go Thamel, you go Nepal again please You can easily spend 3-4 hours just walking around Thamel and exploring the hand made bags, embroidered T shirts, Gorkha Khukuris, masks, singing bowls etc. Evening it turns into a pub paradise with live music and party people all over the place.
Its a Buddhist temple, but you see a big chunk of shopping stalls around the temple. Fridge magnets, posters, scarfs, masks and what not.
Brilliant rock live music - awesome pubby way to end a wonderful Nepal vacation
