Nestled amidst the thick oak and sweet smelling pine trees lies a town so unassuming, you just might pass it by- Landour.

Maybe you’re looking to escape the humdrum of life or just enjoy a quick getaway with yourself or a loved one? Then look no further.

The following recommendations will enable you to enjoy your peace as well as get your rush of adventure.

Day 1- Reach Mussoorie in the day and head to Landour. This will be your place of stay for the next few days. Relax until lunch time. Then head out for a leisurely walk and explore the winding lanes of landour.

Landour is an old cantonment area and has many beautiful houses that have been converted into homestays or cafés. It exudes an old world charm that is unique to this place. The people are friendly and welcoming. You can explore the many shops that sell famous leather shoes, jewellery and local craft.

Enjoy the rest of the day taking in the relaxing vibe of the place. Landour Bakehouse at Sisters Bazaar is the perfect place to explore some mouth-watering savouries and desserts.

Day 2- Head out for a walk to Char Dukan. Can also visit the St. Paul’s Church in the vicinity.

Lunch out at Café Ivy which is known for it’s killer ambience and views. The food is amongst the best that you will find at Landour.

Can continue a leisurely walk towards Lal Tibba scenic point where you can enjoy the sunset and a maggi!

Day 3- Head to Jabarkhet Nature Reserve for a guided trek. You will learn all about the flaura, fauna and wildlife of the area along with the latest conservation measures. Leopards have also been spotted there.

Head back to Landour for lunch and enjoy the rest of the day to yourself.

Day 4- For another fun and adventurous day, get ready to trek to George Everest Peak. Head out early so you can return by early evening.

Day 5- Keep the day to relax and enjoy Mussoorie too! Head to the mall road for the many shopping sites and a multitude of choices for various cuisines. You will be spoilt for choice here. By evening, many cafés and restaurants have live music sessions, so you can enjoy your last evening here with good music, dance and food.

Ruskin Bond, the famous writer also lives in Landour and visits the book stores in Mussoorie twice a week to meet people and sign books. If you fancy his work and would like to meet him, you can find out more from the local book stores.
