I boarded morning flight from Delhi that hardly took 1.5hours to reach leh airport. The view from the top was simply mesmerizing. The mountains with snowy blanket on them couldn't let me keep my eyes off the window (tip: a window seat is must...you won't regret to pay extra to your airline for this) .I prebooked my homestay with Airbnb in stakmo village which is 25kms from airport named 'stakmo chapura homestay',It a very small peaceful village near thikshey. Network is an issue in stakmo as only BSNL works there but I enjoyed this 'donot disturb ' network problem honestly guys. My room had awesome moutain view from window where I enjoyed my green tea as I reached there.
In evening I went to a nearby gompa monastrey in village. Timely Hydrating yourself is a must because oxygen is quite low also avoid travelling on day 1 and exhausting yourself.
Day 2nd was my local leh sightseeing day .I covered places like magnetic hill, pathar sahab gurudwara(Don't miss langar), hall of fame, Shanti stupa, namgyal palace, stok monastery and sangam .
Day 3 I started early for nubra via khardungla after having nice breakfast at my homestay. It took around 3 hours to reach khardungla top and I was lucky enough to see fresh snow there which was enough to make me mad.🤣 Spent around 20minutes there as breathing is bit difficult because of lack of oxygen. On reaching hunder I enjoyed atv ride in sand. I prebooked my stay at hotel sand dunes in diskit as tents in nubra stays closed till May.
Later in evening went to double humped camel ride in sand dunes and diskit monastery visit.
Started early around 6.30 in the morning to reach pangong via shyok river .It was a 4hours journey .Pangong river stays frozen in mid April so I got chance to see beautiful frozen pangong. I got back to leh via changla pass in evening.
This day was committed to local shopping in leh market and few places which were still left to complete my check list.
First I went to thikshey monastery which is the biggest monastery in leh where a enjoyed my lil conversation with a lama who was teacher at thikshey monastery school, shey palace and 3 idiots school.
Leh market is a bit crowed place with pashmina shawl written in every 2nd shop. Souvenir like fridge magnet, baby monk dolls and wind chimes are available in many shops. Apart from this Apricots(a must buy),nuts, blueberry, dried cheese, saffon and different flower seeds is also something one can take home.
For lunch I went to famous chopsticks noodle bar for local Thukpa and kahwa tea(who tries soup with tea?? But I did😋). I regretted over my small appetite for not trying Momo's😐
On the last day of my trip I received a early morning snowfall gift ..what a view that was I found my trip sorted after watching that 😀
