We started our journey from Kolkata to Kharagapur where we had to attend some family function, post that we started our journey to Sikkim and forests of north bengal . As always Tithi, my wife was there with me supporting all my crazy stuff. Now this time we had our little baby with us who was just 7 month old that time. We have done before Kolkata Delhi Agra Lucknow Kolkata by road when she was 3 month old, so now we are quite confident enough to handle situations. Plz note we never hired any nanny for the baby as it was our choice to raise her from her initial days.
On our second day we reached Kurseong at around 5:30 in the evening. On this day we started from dumka at 3 in the morning as our hotel had too many mosquito members so nearly whole night we were busy saving our daughter from those mosquitos and trust me the goodnite didn’t had any effect on them. So we started our drive at 3 am so that we can atleast cover few extra KM s. Roads from dumka to Bhagalpur was really awesome and adventurous with few elephant corridors. As I was driving at night i didn’t stop to take any pictures. But I will suggest not to cover this stretch at night. After we crossed Bhagalpur now its time to cross the Ganges through Vikramshila setu which I thought should be much better than farakka but I was completely wrong proven as I was stuck there for atleast 4 hours Bcoz of heavy traffic and no one to guide or maintain the traffic.
On 3rd day we reached Pelling from Kurseong. We stayed at a really nice resort there. the view and the accommodation was so nice that we couldn’t stop us for staying there for two more days. From here we enjoyed the view of mighty MT Kachanzonga.
Next day we started for sightseeing and headed towards Dentam. It was a day trip from Pelling. It is a very small village which offers few nice view point and scenic beauty.
We Started from pelling quite early as we need to cover the distance between pelling to gorumara and there was a landside on our way. We drove through some odd roads where there was not any proper road, but my Thar managed to escape through the rough terrain. After driving few kms we had to stop for 3 hours as there was work going on to remove the debris of land slide.
We reached Gorumara National Park at around 7 Pm last night.Next day early morning we started our jungle safari.
The very next day morning we started from Gorumara and it took around 4 hours to reach there. we crossed few jungles on our way and driving through the jungle was totally a different experience. We three were enjoying a lot even my 7 month old daughter was in very good mood on the whole trip.
After reaching there we ordered our lunch as soon as possible as it was full of homestays and you have to inform the hotel about your food before hand. After a cup of tea n some snacks we kind of started exploring the place. It is a very small village with very few people living there. We really liked the place a lot.
Next day we started our jungle safari with a forest guide. He was really very knowledgeable and a decent guy his name was Saikat. If you ever visit this place I recommend him and I must say he is very helpful and honest guy. We are planning to visit again in the coming years.
The local people say the other side of the wooden bridge is India and we are standing on Bhutan land but from this route u can not enter Bhutan
It was tremendous beautiful road with scenic beauty. When we started our jouney from siliguri after we came back from Jayanti the weather got very cloudy and we lost the hope of clear sky and clear mountain view. My daughter was having so much fun on the trip that we made a plan to visit Gangtok which was not in our plan.
Finally our journey came to end at gangtok. After staying at Gangtok for two days we were quiet relaxed and ready to return back to Kolkata.
