It was 16th of october, we reached Rishikesh and from there we headed to Sonprayag. We had booked a traveller from Rishikesh to Sonprayag. We reached Sonprayag around 10 at night. It took around 10 hrs to reach Sonprayag from Rishikesh. From Sonprayag we got a shared cab to reach Gaurikund which is 5km from Sonprayag. The cab charged us 40 INR per person to Gaurikund. It took 20 minutes to reach Gaurikund. Its a small town but you can find each and every required thing here like raincoat, a small bag etc but price is high.

Next day early in the morning around 5 a.m we started our trek to Kedarnath. Locals told us the distance from Gaurikund to Kedarnath is close to 20Km. As we went ahead on our trek we saw the majestic kedar valley and few waterfalls. Scenic or beautiful are the words less justified for this place. By 3 p.m we have covered around 15k.m of trek and it had already started raining so we had to stay at Lincholi base camp because it was dangerous to go any futher in rain and it was getting dark because of the clouds. Luckily we got a tent to stay which costs us 400 INR per person.

It was raining incessantly and Kedarnath was on double red alert because of it but we didn't have any other option but to continue our trek. The rain and wind making those remaining 5 km more difficult to climb. It took 3 hrs to complete those 5 km. Finally when we reached our destination we all were drenched and shivering in cold . We immediately booked a room which costs us 4000 INR per day. The more you go up the more we paid for food(Maggie:50 INR,Tea:20 INR, Bottle:50INR, Aloo Paratha(1 pc): 50 INR) and accomodation. There are number of options available to stay starting from 600 to 7000 (tents to rooms). We stayed in a 4 bed room in kedarnath town.

Day 4

Next Day the rain stopped and sun came out. As the rays of the sun fell on the Temple and mountains behind it it felt majestic. That view was beyond explanation. We did darshan in the morning at 9 and attended the Sandhya Aarti at 6:30 p.m . It is one of the blessed places in our country. Next day we start coming down with great memories of our trip.
