Pashupatinath Temple is a sacred temple of Hindus. The Temple is located on the banks of the Bagmati River on the eastern side of Kathmandu.

This temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is perhaps the biggest Hindu Temple in Nepal. Within the city limits of the city of Kathmandu, the temple is said to attract devotees in large numbers throughout the year from all parts of the world, particularly from India. Some say the this temple dates back to 400 BC. It is UNESCO approved heritage place.

According to tourism it is one of the most visited place in Kathmandu.

How to reach?

The temple is very close to the airport and can be well reached via taxi from any part of kathmandu.

I had come for work to kathmandu and i searched on google that this was one of the most visited places in Kathmandu. So I along with my senior decided to reach this gem of a place.

We were staying in an apartment very close to Syambhunath, so we took a taxi directly to pashupatinath.

There were various counters for Prasad and we took and proceeded towards the temple. The way was open and good and from the gate you were not allowed to take the images.

Inside the temple was vast. The Main deity is to be seen through FOUR entrances , narrow . Lord Shiva's Face is seen on four sides of the Lingam besides on the top. It is only one of its kind.

The temple could be still better kept. Car parking is vast but dirty.

There is no fee for entrance to the temple.

There are little stalls from where you can get souvenirs for your home. We also got rudraksh from the same.

The place is also considered sacred because of the cremation ceremony that normally takes place in here.

We enjoyed this amazing time in this Temple.

A must visit when in Nepal.
