Travelers are drawn to the fall season, which is locally referred to as "Harud" in Kashmiri, by its brilliant color scheme and cool weather. Kashmir becomes a haven of golden and reddish hues from October to mid-November when the chinar trees lose their leaves. This season is ideal for visiting Nishat Bagh Garden since it has cold, invigorating winds and temperatures that range from a crisp 9°C to a mild 20°C.

Nishat Bagh, the second-largest Mughal garden in the Kashmir Valley, is located on the eastern shore of Dal Lake, close to Srinagar. Nishat Bagh, which translates to "Garden of Bliss" in Urdu, provides a broad perspective of the lake surrounded by the Zabarwan Mountains and the distant, snow-capped Pir Panjal mountains.

The garden's twelve terraces, each representing a sign of the zodiac, are laid out in a form inspired by Persian architecture. From the shoreline, cascading terraces with stately chinar and cypress trees fall to an artificial facade at the edge of the hill.

Nishat Bagh's primary water channel, which flows elegantly between the terraces, is a major attraction. As the water flows from terrace to terrace over stepped stone ramps, it creates an entrancing shimmer. Every patio has a fountain with a pool in it, beckoning guests to stop and appreciate the beauty of the garden. Autumn sunlight and the sound of falling water intensify the hues of the plentiful blooming Persian lilacs and pansies.

Nishat Bagh attracts a lot of travelers in the fall, especially those on honeymoon, those who love the outdoors, and filmmakers who want to capture the alluring colors of the season. There's no visual extravaganza like the garden's transition into a tapestry of orange, yellow, and red leaves. Tourists take leisurely strolls along the boulevards adorned with poplar trees, participate in photo shoots, or just unwind on benches.

Beyond its obvious charm, Nishat Bagh encourages discovery of Kashmiri customs and culture. Kids run around beneath the shadow of the chinar trees, and families and friends get together for picnics in the peaceful settings, sipping Kashmir's signature warm beverage, kahwa. Traditionally made in a brass kettle, kahwa is a unique blend of whole spices, almonds, saffron, and Kashmiri green tea leaves.
