We always think Uttarakhand is all about Nainital, Jim Corbett national park and Mussoorie but there are few offbeat locations is which are like hidden secret. One of them is Jhaltola. If you are a person who loves to explore offbeat and non touristy locations then this place is for you. Located between Chaukori and Patal Bhuvanshwar, the village is a nature’s paradise surrounded with snow-covered mountains and greenery at the same time.

Let me tell you why if should be on your bucket list.

Location:-

Jhaltola is situated in upper Kumaon hills, between Chaukori and Patal Bhuvanshwar at the height of 6000 ft above the sea level. This village is surrounded by mountains and lush green forests. You will get a spectacular view of Nanda Devi, Panchachili peaks and Trishul from here.

Things to do:-

Patal Bhuvaneshwar Cave

It is quite famous spot here and located few kilometers away from the main village. It is one the most mystical and ancient caves which exists in the world. The temple here features 30 gods and cave is almost 160 meters long and 90 feet deep.

Trekking and Nature walk

Since this village is located at the lap of Himalayas and surrounded by lush green landscapes this also offers lots of nature walks and trekking options.

This place offers some mesmerizing view of Himalayas especially during sunset. All the snowcapped mountains glows in golden color. Just relax and soak yourselves in nature.

Kumaoni Food

This place is just blessed with local food and you will get the experience of authentic kumaoni food here. Recommended dishes are aloo Ke gutke, chainsoo (a high-protein dish made of black pulse), Kumaoni dal bade and bhatt ki churkani (made of lentil). Do not miss out on relishing sisunak or bicchu saag (stinging nettle grass) and lingadu saag (wild asparagus).

How to Reach:-

Nearest railway station is Kathgodam Railway station which is approx 7 kms from mail village. Road the village is well maintained and equally beautiful, you can bring your vehicles without any hassle.
