To make your train journey more luxurious and fun, Railways Minister Piyush Goyal has asked Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to make saloon coaches available to the public.
Two coaches which were earlier reserved for the Railways Minister only will soon be opened to public in order to enhance their experience on-board. Any passenger will be able to book a saloon.
"It has always been his (Goyal) thinking that the Railways should provide the best possible services to the common man for which he always tries to get the feedback from the public for improvement of services of Indian Railways," the Indian Railways said.
As per reports, Railways has in total 336 saloon coaches including 62 air-conditioned coaches. All saloons except those required for safety/operational needs will be made available for commercial purposes on payment basis.
Each coach can accommodate two families at a time for at least 5 days. A saloon coach is comprised of two-bedrooms, a lounge, a pantry, a bathroom and a kitchen.
