Important things you must know before going to Manali to Leh Roadtrip

Manali to Leh, bike ride a distance of total 427 km to be covered in two days!!!

So recently I went on a bike Roadtrip with friends from Manali to Leh and in Ladakh for a couple of days. This is the second time I did this circuit from Manali to Leh, first time in a car and second time on bikes!!!
The roads are magical, difficult, scenic, breathtaking and much more at the same time.

Here are some important things to take into consideration if you are planning for manali to Leh route

✨You need negative RT-PCR test to enter Leh(upto 96 hours).
✨You can self drive bikes, by either getting your own bike shipped to delhi/chandigarh or nearest cities or rent the bikes in Manali.
✨ HP bikes are not permitted in Ladakh and vice versa, so check this with your bike provider in advance
✨Start as early as possible, and the distance from Manali to Leh is generally covered in 2 days by taking first day stop at either Keylong, Jispa or Sarchu.
✨Jispa or Keylong would be a better choice for overnight stay as it's at lower altitude compared to Sarchu.
✨As you go higher on altitude, altitude sickness worsens, after crossing Gata Loops, two more high passes come in the way, Nakee La (15,547ft) and Tanglang La(17,480 ft), don't spent too much time there and leave as soon as you can.
✨The hotels on the way from Manali to Leh are well equipped with sleeping facilities, and lots of warm clothes for you to take rest in between and fuel up your bodies.
✨Don't forget to fuel up at Tandi petrol pump, as that's the only petrol pump you will encounter on this route before reaching nearby leh.
✨Don't pack light on winter essentials you will need it all as weather is unpredictable.

Lastly I don't want to scare you, but the reality is it's tough to drive through these passes, it can get scary if you don't plan well.. So happy travels but be safe.
