The months of July & August are known to be the most ideal period for kicking on the adventures around the Northern-most part of the country, and soak in the serenity that lingers in the air. Well, until now, you could simply go with the flow while exploring the high altitude areas in Ladakh - but no more!
According to the recent Travel Advisory passed by the Tourism Department of Ladakh, travellers will not be allowed to stay around Pangong Lake if they don't have a prior booking. This step has been taken to check the huge footfall of tourists, who end up facing hardships in getting accommodation in this popular location.
"Pangong lake area is a wild-life notified sanctuary and hence accommodation availability is limited. Considering the limited accommodation available, tourists/visitors should avoid plans of stay at Pangong without prior booking of accommodation," the Ladakh Tourism Department said in an advisory. The advisory was issued on Friday to ensure safe and secure visit and stay of the tourists in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
The Tourism Department also mentioned that it will now be mandatory for travellers to spend at least 48 hours in Leh, since their arrival, before they plan to travel to high-altitude areas like Khardung La, Chang La, Pangong Tso, Tsomoriri and Hanle.
If you're planning a trip to Ladakh this year, make sure you have 2 extra days in hand to relax and acclimatize, before you hit the roads and witness the beauty of nature unfolding at this part of the world.
