We all love to travel, explore, and live a little. Unfortunately, most of us only get the chance to do so, once or twice a year… if we are lucky! So, when we do get the chance to visit the vacation destinations of our dreams – we really don’t want to be messing up the perfect picture opportunities.

Never fear! With a little imagination and some help from our top tips, you will be constantly prepared to take the perfect, Instagram-worthy travel pic, no matter where in the world you end up. With all this in mind, let’s talk travel, photos, and how to make it all work.

Tips to Take the Perfect Picture

Let’s look at all the things we can do to make sure we get the perfect shot, every time. It all starts with making sure you have the correct equipment in that camera bag of yours…

Camera Equipment

First things are first: are you using a camera or are you using your phone? If using your phone, be sure to reset the lighting settings for each new shot. It is far too easy to accidentally add a setting that you don’t need between pictures on a Smartphone. To avoid this, periodically reset the picture settings, particularly if you feel the white balance is off.

If you are using a manual camera you will need three things. 1 = the ability to use it in the first place. 2 = a laptop to edit photographs in, add masks or filters to your pic, or brighten/dim the contrast. 3 = Photography DIY requires Sugru moldable glue – regardless of whether you are shooting with a camera or a phone. This stuff sticks to anything, makes it appear that objects are floating if you use it inventively, and can hold both a lens and a phone screen together with minimal fuss. It can be fully manipulated into shape, and it holds fast wherever you put it. Trust us, it’s essential for a camera bag.

All in the Lighting

There are three types of lighting in the world of film and if you want to take successful pictures no matter where you are, you need to master these. Consider why the ring light is currently so popular to Tik Tok content creators… it up-lights, downlights, and mid-lights, all in one perfectly rounded tool. This technique is known as 3 point lighting in the world of film.

No matter what the picture or where you are taking it, make sure you have a light below you, a light above you, and a light head on to you. This way you will look as good as possible.

Consider your Pose

Choose wisely, in terms of posing. Taking a great travel photo is all about angles. If you were to take a photo from directly beneath you, facing up, it would make you look ridiculous. Take the camera and lift it slightly above your face, then point down on yourself, and the selfie is much better… because angles matter. If you have a real intention of being an Instagram model, you need to learn to work your angles. It’s not just about you, either. Mastering your angles will make all the difference when it comes to scenic shots.

Don’t Forget to Document

One of the things most people do while travelling is take the shot, without taking note of where exactly the photo was taken. Avoid this by remembering to tag the photo with the place name as you go along. It will make explaining your travel shots so much easier when you are looking back fondly in a few years’ time.

Follow our tips and you should have a travel album to die for, any day of the vacation.
