While traveling is the most amazing activity for this generation, it also comes with its own pros & cons. Many of you message asking how to convince your parents to let you travel. My advice would be - stay patient. They stop us from traveling only because we have become a fast generation with crazy ideas, so they aren't wrong. You can follow some simple tips, that has worked pretty much for me!
Rule No. 1 - DO NOT LIE
Always be honest with your parents about when, where and with whom you would be traveling. Don't hide anything from them.
Rule No. 2 - PICK THE RIGHT TIME
Make sure you choose the right time, mood and day to break the news of when you want to travel, preferably when the family is free - like weekends or when they are in a really good mood.
Rule No 3 - LOCATION
Start with shorter trips and treks, places where they can reach you over a call/texts. Go for one day plans and return back by evening, sit and talk to them, show them pictures & videos.
Rule no 4 - PARENT'S TRIP
Take your parents out with you to show them what you do while you are on a trip, make it comfortable and fun for them and let them have a glimpse of your life on roads.
Rule no 5 - DURATION
Start with shorter 3 day trips to make them feel comfortable in the beginning and always stay in touch. Slowly & steadily you can increase the days.
Rule no 6 - CONTACT
Share phone numbers of all the people you are traveling with, so they feel comfortable.
Respect their decision. Slowly & gradually they will start feeling like a part of your trips and let you travel on your own.
