When the world is going through some tough times, it very important for an individual to actually keep themselves positive and pass on that positivity to the people around them.
While working from home, lately I have found my peace of mind in Korean dramas, fondly known as K Drama. And while watching these dramas, I realised how similar our cultural values are.
2020 was possibly the best year for the Korean entertainment industry as they released some gut-wrenching stories last year. Many of the dramas spread positivity through their stories, which was the most important aspect of binge watching them.
Here are some dramas that should definitely be on your watch list, as they take you on a ride in a fantasy world, away from the current scenarios.
All the shows listed below can be watched on Netflix.
1. Pinocchio
Based on the lives of news reporters, Lee Jong Suk and Park Shin Hye show us the way to always stand in solidarity with the truth and help us find a right way to defeat the evil within us. Elders can also be wrong at times and to make them realise their mistakes but in a manner where we don't disrespect them is a real challenge.

2. Start Up
Based on the lives of some software developers, this drama portrays the hardships and the struggles of a group who owns a startup company, who are struggling to make their ends meet but still going strong, having faith in the skills they have. And this drama I love more because of the second lead(Kim Seon Ho), who is always critical about the work of the main lead (Nam Joo Hyuk), which actually gives them the motivation to perform better and stand with their heads high in front of Kim Seon Ho. With a perfect blend of comedy, romance and ambition, this will definitely give you the confidence to achieve big in your lives even with less resources and facing right kind of criticism from the people who cares about you.

3. Descendants of the Sun
A 2016 drama of Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo, based on army and doctors, portray that how difficult it is to be a frontline worker for the country as they have to be on their toes 24×7 (as we have been observing since a year now) and still they go strong even if there is a natural calamity that has hit the earth.

4. Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo
As the name itself indicates, its a story of a girl (Lee Sung Kyung) who is a weightlifter in the country, aiming to play Olympics one day. It showcases the story about a sports women who is in a sports which is mostly male dominated and how she finds it difficult to balance her professional and personal life. We all need one right person in our life, be it our friends, parents or our partner (Nam Joo Hyuk), who will support us unconditionally in all the ups and downs we face.

5. My love from another star
A fantasy drama based on the life of an alien (Kim Soo Hyun) who has been stranded on earth since Joseon Era. The alien falls for a girl (Jun ji Hyun) from the earth despite knowing the circumstances he might have to face for loving a human, he chose to never give up and fight for what is right for the benefit of his loved ones.

6. Welcome to Waikiki
This drama will hurt your cheeks and stomach so much that till the time you are binge watching this drama you will forget about the outside world. A very light hearted one with 6 friends trying to balance their lives on a personal as well as professional level and giving us a lesson that no work is big or small. When in need don't shy away from taking a work which might be a smaller one than we were doing earlier but which is not taking our self respect for a toss.
