India's first cruise getaway!

The state of Odisha has introduced a new travel package that will allow visitors to enjoy cruises on the Hirakud reservoir, located in the Sambalpur township in Odisha. Starting August, travellers can enjoy the Hirakud cruise package that will include bird and animal watching, according to the forest officials, as per reports.

What's awaiting travellers?

The reservoir is located just off the Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary, already a tourist-favourite and creatures from the animal kingdom visit the reservoir to drink water on a daily basis. Now tourists who go for the all-new cruise will have the opportunity to witness animals in their natural habitat, as per reports. It is set to become a major eco-tourism spot for adventure and wildlife enthusiasts, that will involve the local community.

To top it up, the Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary is also seeking to attract visitors by offering a spectacular journey on the three islands–sunset island, cattle island, and the island of bats.

Cruises are a fantastic way to spend your holiday. If you need to unwind and forget about your troubles, this looks like the place to be. You can even make it a family tradition to cruise by booking the ship for a special event, complete with the perfect wildlife view, lip-smacking dishes and your favourite drink to sip!
